How to Find the Microsoft Entra ID

Quick Reference for Locating Entra Tenant and User IDs

Overview

Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) assigns a unique Tenant ID to each organization and a unique Object ID to each user account. These IDs are often needed when troubleshooting sign-in, licensing, or account provisioning issues.

Find Your Organization’s Tenant ID

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center (entra.microsoft.com).
  2. Browse to Identity → Overview, then click Properties.
  3. Scroll to the Tenant ID field and copy the value.

– You can also find the Tenant ID in the Azure portal under Microsoft Entra ID → Properties.

Find a User’s Entra Object ID

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center.
  2. Browse to Identity → Users → All Users.
  3. Search for the user by name or User Principal Name (UPN).
  4. Select the user’s name to open their profile.
  5. Under the Basic Info section, copy the Object ID.

Search Directly by ID

  • If you already have an Object ID, paste it directly into the search bar in the Users, Groups, or App Registrations section of the Entra admin center to jump straight to that record.
  • Required access: any Entra admin role, or a Global Reader role, can view these IDs.

NOTE

A user’s Object ID is permanent and never changes, even if their name or email address is updated — use it as the stable identifier when researching a ticket.
